Dustin Moore, WHL Grad of the Month

EDMONTON - The Canada West Universities Athletic Association and Western Hockey League proudly announce University of Lethbridge winger and former Red Deer Rebel Dustin Moore as the January 2012 Canada West men’s hockey Husky-WHL Graduate of the Month.

Each monthly winner throughout the season receives a $500 cheque towards the cost of education, a plaque, a letter from WHL Commissioner Ron Robison and a computer bag.

In January, the fifth-year Horns forward tallied four goals and four assists for eight points in seven conference games. Lethbridge went 3-4-0 to extend its lead in the race for the final Canada West playoff spot.

The 25-year-old Management student becomes the 10th Lethbridge Pronghorns student-athlete to win the monthly honour and first since Adam Chorneyko in January 2010. Pronghorns players have won the award 12 times, with former goaltender Trevor Kruger and current head coach Greg Gatto, a forward during his playing days, each winning twice back in the 1990s.

In 2006-07, Moore played his lone season in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels, recording 20 goals and 48 points over 64 games. He also added four goals and a pair of assists in seven post-season contests.
