Rebels Keep Rolling

On a night where the visitors came on strong early, outshooting the Rebels 8-1 halfway through the third, Red Deer would connect on 2 of their first 3 shots enroute to a 5-2 victory Saturday night over the Wheat Kings.

Brett Ferguson would get the "Toque Toss" goal 4:11 into the first period to get things started for the home squad.  At 12:53, Mathew Dumba would grab the puck at the red line and explode into the Wheat Kings zone for a breakaway, sending a backhand deke over an outstretched Liam Liston for a 2-0 Rebels lead.  Andrej Kudrna would blast a rebound home on the PP at 14:58, making it 3-0 Red Deer after one period.

Kudrna would get his second of the night, banking one off Liston from behind the goal line, also on the PP, at 1:38 of the second.  Brayden Schenn, in his first game back as a Wheat King, would rifle one five-hole on Darcy Kuemper a little over 2 minutes later.

John Persson would one-time a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins pass over the glove of Liston at 8:40 of the third, and Scott Glennie would finish off the scoring, beating Kuemper with less than a second remaining on the game, making the final score 5-2 for Red Deer.

Brandon would score on 2 of 6 PP opportunites, while Red Deer scored 3 on the same number of chances.

Next up for Red Deer is a 3 games in 3 nights weekend Dec. 10-12.  Kelowna will visit the Enmax Centrium Friday, Regina comes to town Saturday, and the Rebels will travel to Calgary to face the Hitmen on Sunday.
