In their home debut, the Rebels got goals from 7 different players, and defeated Edmonton 8-1 in front of 5,547 enthusiastic supporters Saturday night at the Enmax Centrium.
One night after finishing off the same Oil Kings squad 4-1 at Rexall, Andrej Kudrna (2), Byron Froese, Turner Elson, Lane Scheidl, Marc McCoy, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and John Persson all connected for Red Deer. The Rebels lead 3-1, 7-1 after the first 2 periods respectively. Darcy Kuemper was solid, turning aside 21 of 22 Oil Kings shots, while Laurent Brossoit and Cam Lanigan registered 23 saves on 31 shots. The Rebels entertain the Kootenay Ice Wednesay, before a weekend home & home series with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Next Saturdays home game will see the debut of the Rebels new third jersey.
